James Hernandez
James Hernandez is a native to Los Angeles growing up in the neighborhood of Boyle Heights. Later his family moved to Whittier. James obtained his Bachelor of Arts degrees in English & General Social Ecology (Psychology) from the University of California, Irvine in 2001. During this time he commuted from his home in Whittier to Irvine for college, while working for the family business and an on-campus job.
Next James attended Chapman University School of Law (now called Fowler’s School of Law) and opted for their part-time program so he could again work his way through school. He worked at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Nigel right next to Leisure World and later took a law clerk position at a catastrophic personal injury firm. He will always be grateful for the time spent working these positions because they gave him daily reminders that good health and time with loved ones are precious and should always be safeguarded. He obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2005.
After becoming a parent, another attorney pulled him aside and asked if he had done his estate plan. Once he replied no, the other attorney shamed him for knowing better. As a result, James started researching this area of law. Once he learned the value of estate planning he made it his mission to start practicing in this area of law because it would enable him to help others. James understands that estate planning must be approached with compassion and respect because it involves the inner workings of a client’s finances and family dynamics. James would take it as a great honor if you choose him to be your attorney and counselor in this matter.

Jason Murai
Jason & James were classmates at Chapman University – Fowler School of Law. During that time Jason assisted James on a few matters and that professional relationship still exists today. Jason is affiliated with S&L Jaw and maintains a close, continuing professional relationship with our firm.
Before law school, Jason initially planned to be an elementary school teacher and worked for many years in the LAUSD and Torrance Unified School Districts. But after receiving his B.A. in English at the University of California, Irvine, he moved to Japan to teach English with the JET Program. After completing his assignment and enjoying every moment of living in Japan, he resettled in Los Angeles. Jason was admitted to practice law in the state of California in 2006. Then 2012, he was certified as a financial planner (CFP) after his competition of the personal financial planning program at UCLA. In 2014, he was also was certified by the California bar as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate law. With over 20 years experience in estate planning, Jason is a wealth of knowledge and can handle just about any estate planning, trust administration, or probate matter.
